20 Things I'm Leaving Behind in 2022

For me, this year was all about living again after spending the last few years in survival mode.

I spent a lot of time looking inward, confronting my past, and learning to hope again. It wasn't all sunshine and roses, but it was necessary and I am thankful.

I honestly still can’t believe how fast this year has flown, but I am ready to see what God has in store. So, as we round out the year, what better time to let go of the old to make room for the new?

Here are 20 things I’m planning to leave in 2022:

  1. Rooting my worth in my career, education, or productivity

  2. Leaving the things I start unfinished

  3. Making myself small and calling it humility

  4. Fighting my natural hair

  5. Avoiding conflict

  6. Comparing my timeline, gifts, and purpose to others

  7. Forcing friendships and relationships

  8. Skimping on my quiet time with God

  9. A poverty mindset

  10. Scrolling first thing in the morning and last thing before bed

  11. Dwelling on things I can’t change

  12. Missing out on experiences because I don’t have someone to go with

  13. Oversharing

  14. Saying yes when I want to say no and vice versa

  15. Not wearing what I want to avoid being seen as "extra"

  16. Hiding

  17. Feeling guilty about lazy days

  18. Consulting with people before consulting with God and His word

  19. Over-apologizing

  20. Treating healing like a destination instead of a journey

What are you leaving behind in 2022? Let me know down below and have a happy New Year!

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

I can relate with most of those. Especially 11 because it’s mostly in my nature but I know God is working on that part of me. It’s so hard to know you can’t change every situation, you can’t change people but I can only change and work on myself, my perspective, feelings, etc. And all the others point are so valid as well. 2023 is going to be A turning point for many I believe 🥰💯🙏🏼

This is so well said! Choosing to let go of the things we can’t control is not easy at all. It’s a daily effort, but the resulting peace is so worth it. 2023, here we come! 💃🏾

Hey sis! I’m so glad you could relate. I’m with you on #2! Not finishing the things I start, has absolutely cost me. We got this in 2023 though!
